Welcome to the Cotswold Branch of   The Arts Society

BottichelliThe Arts Society Cotswolds, founded in 1969, is an active and friendly society based in the beautiful Oxfordshire town of Burford. Meetings are held at Warwick Hall, Church Green, Burford.

The members are committed to furthering their enthusiastic interest in the decorative and fine arts and to this end organise a programme of fascinating lectures, special interest days, social events and visits to places of outstanding interest. You will find details of all the activities for the current year 2016/2017 in the accompanying pages. The lectures which form the core of the programme are held ten times a year at 11.30 a.m. on the second Wednesday of the month. They feature top quality lecturers, recommended and approved by The Arts Society organisation.

The society also encourages active participation in a range of other pursuits, including the provision of guides for historic places and fostering an interest in the arts by sponsoring activities for young people. An initiative under this heading is the provision of an annual bursary of £400 for a student at each of the local state schools – Burford, Chipping Norton and Cotswold - to enable the students to pursue their interest and studies in the arts, crafts and design. A recently produced Illustrated guidebook to the historic buildings in Burford has proved very popular.
